Esalen style massage is a healing therapy that focuses on your emotional, spiritual and psychological well-being. This massage is a gentle, soothing massage that can induce deep relaxation and sleep. It is one of the most soothing and nurturing forms of massage I know.  As a result, once experienced, most people prefer it.  Esalen is slow, meditative and includes the sensory awareness of T’ai Chi. It uses long flowing strokes, some of which are head to toe.  Esalen also includes gentle stretching, rocking and sculpting of the muscles. Esalen addresses your entire body which makes you subliminally aware of their bodily experience.  The long flowing stokes may be punctuated by deeper bodywork to soothe and balance your body, mind and spirit. Esalen massage goes beyond the physical results of bodywork by including an exchange of energy.

Most people allow 60-minute for traditional Swedish massage, but Esalen lasts at least 90 minutes.  The extra time will definitely help you feel better and more relaxed.  Who knows, you may even achieve sleep.

Esalen style massage is very effective.
