Project Description
Deep Tissue Massage
Get the knots out.
60 minutes – $85
Deep Tissue Massage is just that – deep! It’s meant for the release of stress in specific areas your body. This kind of bodywork includes compression and friction meant to stretch and release muscles from deeply held patterns of tension you’ll find typically in your neck shoulders or low back.
Deep Tissue is a type of massage therapy that involves applying very firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). Deep tissue massage techniques are used to stretch out scar tissue and physically break down muscle “knots” or adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) that can hamper blood and immune system circulation, cause pain, reduce mobility, and cause inflammation.
Typically, Deep Tissue is applied to a specific part of your body – not your entire body. It’s meant for chronic aches and pain and areas where your muscles are stiff such as in your neck, shoulders, upper back and low back.
Because Deep Tissue is so focused you may need as little as 30 minutes for your session. We can assess this at the time of your appointment. Otherwise, you may add to your session 60 minutes of Swedish or Esalen massage to relax you after the Deep Tissue treatment.
Deep Tissue is effective for:
Increasing range of motion, fighting limited mobility
Recovery from injuries such as whiplash or falls
Repetitive strain injury, like carpal tunnel syndrome
Help postural problems
Muscle tension especially in neck, shoulders, lower back. But it is also effective in the hamstrings, glutes, IT band, legs, quadriceps, rhomboids, and upper back.
But, wherever you’re stiff or don’t have full range of motion fully let go with Deep Tissue.
